Laugharne 60 pts. Pembroke Dock 7
The Quins ended their season with a heavy defeat at the Wooford Playing Fields, conceding no less than 10 tries in the process.
Laugharne were out to take revenge for their opening day 31-0 defeat at Bierspool, and with just three minutes on the clock, outside-half Owen Thomas darted over for a try, which was converted by centre Thomas Jameson.
On 10 minutes, captain and number eight Carl Smith scored from close range, which was superbly converted from wide out by Thomas Jameson.
Although the Quins were 14 points adrift, they did put some pressure on their opponents’ line, with second row Chad Monk putting in some forceful runs, but they were unable to take their opportunities to get on the scoreboard.
The home side were just about running everything and causing the Quins problems in the process.
Carl Smith soon added his team’s third try, which again was converted by Thomas Jameson, centre Ross Michael added the all-important bonus point try, which went unconverted, before the Quins hit back when centre Harry Owen ran in under the posts after a fine break from co-centre Thomas Doyle.
Outside-half Ben Hathaway added the extras, to send the Quins in 26-7 behind at the break.
With the wind behind them, it was essential that the Quins scored first to get themselves back in the game, but once again it was the home side who broke out of defence with a try which was finished off by Jameson, which he converted himself.
The Quins then conceded two quick unconverted tries, both scored by flanker Mike Williams.
The Quins should have scored when a well-weighted pass from Ben Hathaway sent the outstanding Harry Owen in under the posts, but unfortunately for him he dropped the ball as he was about to touch down.
Two more tries were soon added, both scored by full-back Stefan Davies, the second of which was converted by Jameson.
The 10th and final try was scored by Owen Thomas, who orchestrated his backs superbly throughout the match.
For the Quins, with a number of players playing out of position, it was a brave performance and for the youth players who played, it was a steep learning curve, but they can take heart from the fact they have bigger fish to fry when they take on Crymych in the final of the Pembrokeshire Youth Cup in the near future.
Quins team: Liam Scourfield, Danny Woods, Thomas Doyle, Harry Owen, Mike Davis, Ben Hathaway, Bradley James, Gary Burns, James Gardener, Rhys Roberts, Chad Monk, Mark Van Rhyn, Alex Pierce, Stefan Halward, Barry Parsons (capt). Replacement: Martin Cully.
