Wales Women Rugby League team’s two games next month against Scotland and England will be live-streamed by S4C, the home of Welsh sport.
The matches at The Lextan Gnoll in Neath, will be produced for S4C by leading sports production company Whisper Cymru and will be available live with English and Welsh commentary on S4C Clic and S4C YouTube.
This means that Wales v Scotland on Sunday, August 3 will now kick-off at the slightly later than advertised time of 4pm, whilst Wales v England on Saturday, August 9 is now at 5.30pm.
The first match will be Scotland Women’s first-ever in rugby league, whilst the England game is the fifth in the now-traditional annual clash between the two nations.
Wales have qualified for the Women’s Rugby League World Cup for the first time, with the tournament being held next year in Australia and Papua New Guinea, and head coach Tom Brindle is delighted that his squad will be showcasing their talents to a nationwide audience.
He said: “This is excellent news for the Wales Women’s Rugby League. From the outset, our aim has been to grow the game in Wales and showcase our exceptional Welsh talent. We are grateful that S4C’s live coverage will ensure a wider audience for the women’s game.”
S4C’s head of Sport, Sue Butler said: “It’s a pleasure to show this developing sport in Wales and to follow the Welsh team as they prepare for their first World Cup.”
