Judging took place in Saundersfoot last week for the annual Wales in Bloom contest.
Competing in the ‘Large Village’ class, Saundersfoot in Bloom chair Clr. Rosemary Hayes, along with represenatatives from the community council and village welcomed judge John Woods to have a look around the coastal resort’s floral delights for 2019.
Wales in Bloom is the regional element of the National Britain in Bloom Competition supported by the Royal Horticultural Society.
The title suggests solely a floral involvement, but this is only one element of the organisation’s campaign, with the ‘Helping Communities Grow’ message sent out to encourage voluntary support with others to improve their local environment.
With a population of around 3,500 inhabitants, there are about 35 organisations in the village, all working together for the benefit of Saundersfoot.
A classic example of this is the annual Flower Festival held each year in St. Issell’s?Church organised by Saundersfoot in Bloom.
This year it will be held from August 6 to 10, opening between 10 am and 6 pm.
With 31 organisations taking part, it will be well worth making a visit to the lovely church of St. Issell’s and enjoying the beautiful arrangements.
The garden competition will be held again this year and judging will take place on Wednesday, July 17.
