Despite a rather misty start to the day, over 120 motor vehicles and motorbikes arrived at the start line at The Plough in Sageston to take part in the Pembrokeshire County Motoring Events’ first event of the 2018 season, the Western Telegraph South Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen Bay Run 2018 in support of the Paul Sartori Foundation on Sunday.
There to greet them with a smile were Jeff and Sian Edwards, the founders/organisers, along with representatives of the Paul Sartori Foundation and the chairman of the Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Paul Harries.
The wonderful exhibits were from many decades, from the early days of motoring to headturning exhibits from the 21st century.
With the lowering of the Pembrokeshire, Welsh and Union flags by Clr. Paul Harries, chairman of PCC, and Phil Thompson MBE and Val Harold, of the Paul Sartori Foundation, the exhibits crossed the start line, with the first vehicle being driven by Jeff and Sian in their popular and well-known Rover 216 Cabriolet. Jeff and Sian had an escort of outriders on their magnificent motorbikes.
The 46-mile route via Templeton, Princes Gate, Tavernspite, Red Roses, Laugharne, Pendine, Amroth, Saundersfoot and Tenby, to the finish line back at The Plough via Gumfreston, was a mixture of mist and sunny intervals, but despite the weather, nothing was going to spoil the enjoyment of everyone who took part.
By lunchtime, it turned out to be a beautiful, sunny afternoon, with one of the main highlights of the day being the ‘drive thru’ the stunning and timeless seaside resort of Tenby via its stunning South Parade, Five Arches and its magnificent Esplanade.
Jeff and Sian would like to thank all the drivers and riders, the Western Telegraph, Paul Sartori Foundation, the Plough Inn and those wonderful photographers along the 46-mile route for their dedication and support to this event which was once again a very successful day for both the county and the Paul Sartori Foundation. They look forward to staging their next motoring event, the Western Telegraph Preseli Bluestone Run 2018, in aid of the British Heart Foundation, on Sunday, June 10.
