Are they out yet? Any up? Questions asked in early November in Sardis village every year.
Well yes, there are always a few daffodils in bloom in late November and early December and 2011 is no exception.
The first ones were in flower on November 18... just five. On November 19 there were just three-and-a-half. Something likes the taste of young daffodils. Maybe a squirrel was checking them out for a snack.
But there are lots more to come, on roadside verges, in the woodland and under the hedges. Many are the native Tenby Daffodils and all have been planted over the last 11 years by volunteers.
Early daffodils are planted in many places and no doubt others are blooming in Pembrokeshire. The extraordinary thing about Sardis daffodils is that they are at the side of the road and not in a garden, and like a lot of wildflowers in Sardis they came early and flower for a long time.
