In the lead up to Christmas, Judy Williams, of Penally, decided to do something different to raise money for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home. It was like a real life advent calendar, where local residents dressed their windows with lots of lights, decorations and displayed a number. Each day throughout December a new illuminated display was revealed at 5 pm.

Thirty-eight residents took part in this event and many more showed an interest when they saw the wonderful displays. Judy, who volunteers in Tenby Sartori store, is hoping that this can be an annual event. They raised a fantastic £80 within the village.

“I have chosen Paul Sartori Foundation as beneficiary again this year to support all of the good work they do within Pembrokeshire. I would like to thank all of the residents who got involved and dressed their windows,” said Judy.

Pat Coombs, clinical co-ordinator at Paul Sartori, said: “I think that this was a wonderful idea to bring a small community together.

“It is through the generosity of the Pembrokeshire people that we can continue to provide this much needed service for anyone in the later stages of any life limiting illness.

“The services are available free of charge, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”

The Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service provides a range of services to Pembrokeshire people living in the final stages of a life limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.

The services provided by the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service enable people in the later stages of any life limiting illness to be cared for and to die at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear if that is their wish.
