Everyone at Tavernspite School was very excited when the latest addition to their outdoor learning environment was officially opened.
'The Cabin,' as it has officially been named, was opened by Mr. Simon Hart MP, a former parent and governor of the school.
He said: "It is a real pleasure to be back at the school. My children had a wonderful education here and it is very good to see the school continuing to develop through exciting projects such as this one.'
'The Cabin' will be used as an outdoor learning and resource area for all pupils, particularly the Foundation Phase. The aim is to promote and develop literacy and numeracy skills through using the outdoor learning environment, as well as provide a wonderful role play area, multi-sensory centre and exciting playground resource.
'The Cabin', designed and built to a very high quality by former parent and play equipment designer, Mr. David Welton, was funded entirely by the Friends of Tavernspite School (FoTS) fundraising group who have worked tirelessly in organising a number of events, including the hugely successful summer fete extravaganza.
The whole school community is very grateful to the FoTS for their enormous and ongoing efforts to support the work and life of the school.
Headteacher, Kevin Phelps said: "We are very fortunate to have such a busy and proactive Friends of Tavernspite School. They work really hard and make a huge difference to our school and help to improve the quality of education that we can offer the children."
