Returning to her hometown, Pembrokeshire starlet Jodie Marie is returning from her national launch to perform songs from her new album at the Queen’s Hall in Narberth on Friday, September 18.

Plucked from obscurity at just 16, Jodie has gone on to wow audiences with her ‘velvety and bittersweet’ vocals, in a style described by The Independent as light-blues with a jazz-folk edge.

Following the success of her critically acclaimed debut album, Mountain Echo, Jodie is currently celebrating the launch of her new highly-anticipated second album, Trouble in Mind, released in July 2015.

After the tours, TV appearances and radio plays that followed the release of Mountain Echo, Jodie elected to write the bulk of her new album in isolation, in her home of Wales, and in a provincial cottage in France. Trouble in Mind is inspired by Jodie’s love of Blues, Soul and Jazz; musical influences that can be heard to heart-wrenching effect throughout.

Jodie described her experience recording Trouble in Mind in her home county of Pembrokeshire as ‘really refreshing’.

She explainsed: “It really felt like I was creating my own sound by doing that, I felt like I had all the time in the world to make it. Often leading to late night lock-in sessions with days spent walking in the countryside, or going to the coast. It was a really natural way of recording, especially as we recorded it mostly live, I wanted it to come across like a live gig, but also like a classic recorded studio album.”

Wales Arts Review describes Jodie’s new album as ‘the kind of album that comes along once in an artist’s lifetime, if they’ve been lucky enough to pick up a four leaf clover along the way’, and Planet Music Reviews labelled each track as ‘pure perfection and flawlessly delivered’.
