Despite becoming an Ironman recently, one competitor is hoping to gain permission from his other half to take on the challenge again...but only if he can find his wedding ring!

Will Birmingham from Hextable in Kent recently took on and completed his first Ironman in Tenby, but lost his wedding ring on the North Beach at the swim leg.

“I’m gutted to say that I lost my wedding ring on the first turn buoy - it’s platinum and engraved with the date 03.09.16 - I would be so grateful if anyone who may use metal detectors on the North Beach could have a little search,” explained Will.

“I would be willing to offer a reward if it was found. It’s not worth a huge amount of money but obviously the sentimental value means its irreplaceable.

“I lost it on the first turn of the swim which is the furthest point that the course went from the Harbour (quite far out and to the left of Goscar Rock as you look down onto the beach

“Finding it might also give me half a chance of getting my wife to agree to me competing in another triathlon in my lifetime!” joked Will, whose next next challenge will be preparing to become an ‘Irondad’ in February.

“I had the most incredible day, finishing in 11:54 and raising over £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“The atmosphere was incredible all day and the volunteers helped make it the most memorable race of my life,” he added.
