Responding to news that over 245,000 properties in Wales are at risk of flooding from rivers, Janet Finch Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Climate Change, said:

“There is a shocking number of properties in Wales that are at risk of flooding, and action is well overdue.

“The damage wrought by Storm Henk should focus minds in Cardiff Bay and force Labour to finally treat these risks seriously.

“The Welsh Conservatives would establish a National Flood Agency and work with local communities to co-ordinate flood risk management so families can sleep soundly in their homes.

“As a matter of urgency, Welsh Labour and Plaid Cymru should reconsider the proposed 50 per cent cut to flood risk management and water policy delivery in Wales.”
