A group of Pembrokeshire College’s A-level biology students have been presented with medals and certificates after coming top of the leader board in the British Biology Olympiad.
The Olympiad challenge enables talented students to demonstrate their knowledge of biology by sitting a demanding exam paper, competing against 7,200 other students from across the UK.
Congratulations go to the following A-level biology students who rose to the challenge with some impressive results:
The Gold medal was awarded to Sarah Baggs who scored 51 out of 90. Daisy Hunt won Silver with a score of 43 out of 90. Fellow student, Suhanya Navaratnam was commended for her score of 31 out of 90, while Anastacia Cooper and Wei Aun Lin followed closely behind.
Gold medal winner, Sarah Baggs said: “The Olympiad paper was really challenging, so I was thrilled with the results!”
College lecturer in biology, Kate Bassett-Jones, is extremely proud of the group’s achievements and said: “The group have done exceptionally well! Their medals are proof of their talent and knowledge of the subject. The Olympiad papers are known to be very challenging and the group have had some fantastic results, especially as they competed against over 7,000 other students.”
British Biology Olympiad medals and certificates were presented to the winners by college pincipal, Sharron Lusher, and chairman of the board of governors, Stephen Harrison, who congratulated the group on their knowledge of such a valuable and wide-ranging subject.
