A DOG owner from Milford Haven was sentenced at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 26 after pleading guilty to possessing a fighting dog.
Cameron Jeffrey, of Hawthorn Path, Hakin, had previously admitted to having in his custody at home on January 14 an XL Bully type dog, to which section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 applies.
The 27-year-old was fined £40 and ordered to pay compensation of £1,500, plus court costs of £85.
A contingent destruction order (proper control) was created for Pablo, a brown XL Bully. This is a provision under the Dangerous Dogs Act that saves the dog from destruction and allows it to remain with its owner provided strict management and control conditions are met.
