A TEAM of 33 dancers from a Saundersfoot-based school performed at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, home to the BBC hit television series Strictly Come Dancing.

The dancers of Dynamix Dance School and their family members were extremely excited to be given the opportunity to dance in such a historic venue that holds many competitions every year for dance schools all over England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The build up to the competition was tough, but they all showed such determination and team work to make this experience memorable.

Arriving at the venue, the dancers were blown away; little did they know it was an Elite Championship Dance Competition.

Attending their first Elite competition in Blackpool was a huge deal. Miss Dee put no expectation on the children to win but simply to do their best. They had come to Blackpool just to enjoy the experience and have fun - which they certainly did.

The young dancers did their tutor proud with their professionalism, team spirit, performance ability, and their kindness to other teams. As each dancer took to the stage, Miss Dee felt so much emotion that she declared it was the proudest moment of her teaching career.

The children competed against nine other schools, some of whom had over 40 dancers participating. “This was by far the biggest competition we have ever attended,” said Miss Dee. That said, the amazing dancers brought home four 1st place winners in their category; overall 3rd for Rock Squad and overall 6th for Cluedo - both huge achievements; Most Entertaining Award for the ‘I Believe’ routine and a Special Award for the school.

“What a way to end our very first Elite competition! All down to the commitment, dedication and amazing students the school has,” added Miss Dee.

Following this event, which took place on Sunday, April 27, the dancers then had a quick turnaround to attend the Born 2 Perform competition in Swansea with 44 dancers, an event the school looks forward to every year.

Several new dancers, who have never competed before, attended - and they created magic on the floor. Miss Dee says the results the school achieved are “insane”, including many 1st places in groups, solos and duos, a few 2nd places in groups, duos and solos, two 4th places and one 5th place.

“We also had Top notch Novice award for Boogie Shoes, Diamond Award for ‘I Believe’ group dance and two Judges Choice Awards - for Nate Ronowitz and Polly Hunt. The school is going from strength to strength.”

Back in March, Miss Dee’s Spice Girls team were invited to perform at the UK’s Biggest Dance Convention in the world. The dancers attended Move It at The Excel in London. The girls were sensational and for some it was there first trip to London. “This year is about creating opportunities and memories, we have lots more to look forward to this year. Forever proud of the dancers’ achievements.”
