A full programme of events is planned for the summer months with something for everyone.

Tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 am - 12.30, there will be another of the popular Paperback Breakfasts.

In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, croissants and coffee will be served while paperbacks are swapped and discussed. Tickets are only £5 and everyone is welcome.

As a way of saying ‘thank you’ to its team of volunteers, Narberth Museum is holding a cream tea on July 11 to celebrate the contribution they make to the life of the Museum and all that goes on here.

There is always a need for more volunteers.

Curator, Pauline Griffiths, commented: “We’re especially keen to find people to work in the bookshop - booklovers who can share their passion and enthusiasm for reading. You never know who might call in…”

Anyone interested in finding out more is invited to come along that afternoon and chat to current volunteers and find out whether it’s for them.

“It’s a great way to meet new people, said Pauline, “especially if you’re new to the area.” The tea will be served from 3-4.30 and is free.

On Thursday, July 12, local historian, Terry John, will give a talk entitled ‘John Poyer: the Cockatrice in the Egg.’ Terry’s talks are always popular and this is an opportunity to learn more about this enigmatic Pembrokeshire figure. Tickets cost £5 and the talk starts at 7.30.

During Civic Week, Narberth Museum will be the starting point for the children’s treasure hunt on Thursday, July 26. There will also be a bookstall in the High Street on Carnival Saturday for lovers of book bargains.

Finally, a date to note is Wednesday, August 8, when there will be a Japanese fish printing workshop at the museum. The session will draw a link between the experiences of the fishwives of Pembrokeshire and their Japanese counterparts. More details will be made available nearer the time.

Our regular events will continue throughout the summer: the Living Memories Group meets every two weeks for companionship and fun. The next session is on Friday, July 13, at 1 pm. The Parkinsons Café meets on the last Thursday of every month from 1.30 -3.30 pm giving support and information.

Jacqueline Thompson’s popular and successful family history sessions take place every Thursday.
