Saturday’s Narberth Carnival was the colourful climax to an action-packed Civic Week.
Town crier Ceri Barnes led the procession around the town, which was headed by the flower bedecked float carrying Carnival Queen Abby Rogers and attendant Cerys Warne, Fairy Queen Shay Leathers and attendants Ffion Ramsden and Erin Unsworth, Carnival Princess Ella Warne and Carnival Prince Sonny Thorpe.
A whole host of colourful characters and floats delighted the crowds, with Welsh Prince of Laughter, Civic Week president, Wyn Calvin MBE, who was born in Narberth, presenting the £500 for the best carnival float to the local branch of the Royal British Legion for their superb VE Day float.
Said chairman of Civic Week and town Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers: “Numbers we down, but spirits were high and I hope people enjoyed half as much as I did.”
She continued: “Civic Week has been a great success. Thanks go to the committee for their hard work, Gravell’s, all the pubs that held events, Bethesda Church for the Songs of Praise, Danielle Watts, Tracey Keane zumba, Swim Narberth, Party Toons, the winter carnival committee, Narberth and Whitland Round Table, Utopia, All Sorts, the film society, Bloomfield, Landslide Quilters, the museum, Spar, Span, Anne Lonsdale, and indeed anyone that gave up there time to help and everyone of you that came took part.”
However, Clr. Mrs. Rogers added: “We found it hard work. Please come join and help make Civic Week 2016 the best ever.”
