Winner of this year's Narberth Person of the Year award was Gordon Barry.

As a sound engineer, Gordon Barry first came and lodged in Narberth over 40 years ago where his heart was stolen by a local girl.

Since marrying Barbara, he has made his life in Narberth and continues to contribute to his adopted, beloved area of Narberth and Pembrokeshire.

An unassuming man, he has taken on many roles to encourage and sustain the fabric of the town and, despite now being 'retired', continues as secretary to the Narberth Future Forum, Chamber of Trade, Pembrokeshire Network of Businesses and also amongst other organisations that benefit from his skills is PLANED of which he is a director.

It is no surprise therefore that he was voted this year's Citizen of Narberth.

Unfortunately, whilst traditionally the presentation should be made at the Civic luncheon, due to Gordon being unable to attend, the award was presented, by Deputy Mayor Clr. Sue Rees at the senior citizens coffee morning on Thursday last, where he ensured that Hat Day was observed, being the instigator of this fun event during Civic Week.
