Members of St Issell’s WI were welcomed to the June meeting and the Platinum Jubilee celebrations by president, Diane Rigden, who also extended a warm welcome to Richard and Tracey of Cinnamon Grove Gin Company.

Richard gave a detailed talk on how they had started making gin, after discovering a well at the property with excellent water qualities. He described how they had started by making just gin, adding the various flavours. Ladies were then able to try samples of pink gin, orange, cucumber and mint and sloe and vanilla together with other flavours.

He and Tracy were warmly thanked by Anne-Marie Littlewood who said everyone now knew much more about gin and she was sure ladies had enjoyed tasting the various flavours. Everyone then tucked into nibbles provided by the Committee, and President of Saundersfoot WI, Gwen Newbury, had joined St Issell’s for the evening.

There was a brief business meeting; Shelagh Griffin was thanked for the flowers for the top table, and there was a welcome to Bea Poole paying the WI a visit for the first time. Diane, Julia and Mary Howells were wished an enjoyable trip to Liverpool for the Annual Meeting, Mary being the delegate. Only one team would be entering the Treasure Hunt, and Mary Lawrence and Sheila Spiller agreed to do the flowers for the Saundersfoot in Bloom flower festival in August. Arrangements were made for a trip on July 14 to Fishguard to visit Ocean Lab and the Tapestry, with a meal at the Harp in Letterston on the way home. The coach to leave the Arcade at 1 pm. The competition for a pretty hat or fascinator was won by Eva Rich, and the lucky raffle winners were Sue Haines and Mary Howells. Diane then wished everyone a safe journey home looking forward to the trip in July.
