A Milford mum who stole goods from a local store has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kelly Rees, of Prescelly Place, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing £13.56 of items from the Lidl store in Pembroke Dock on October 20, when she appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that the store manager had witnessed the defendant on CCTV shoplifting and contacted the police.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that it was a straightforward and simple shoplifting matter that Ms Rees was charged with.
“She is a mother to three children and has moved towns and since doing so the offending has dropped. On this occasion, Ms Rees was short of money and unfortunately fell back into old habits, but she has been out of trouble for three-and-a-half years, and if you’ve seen her record, you’d know that’s a very long time!” he said.
Magistrates heard how Ms Rees currently owed the court £1,320 in fines. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £13.56 to the Lidl store.
Ms Rees was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
