KEN Edwards has authored a 132-page illustrated book commemorating the centenary of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club, detailing its rich history.

For well over 40 years Ken Edwards has both played for and charted the history of the Pembroke Dock Bowling Club. He is the ideal person to tell the club’s story and its prominent place in Welsh bowling circles and he has done so in the 100th anniversary year, both writing and publishing the book himself.

Pembroke Dock Bowling Club began in 1925 at the newly opened Memorial Park on Bush Street - created in memory of the town’s servicemen who died in World War I. The first woods were rolled on the new green that summer.

Ken was introduced to bowling by his late father, Syd Edwards - himself a former club president - in the early 1980s and has built up a huge archive of photographs of the club’s activities, achievements and individuals. He has also researched the early history and gathered many fascinating photographs and records.

The result, entitled ‘One Hundred Years’, features nearly 250 photographs spanning a century of bowling at Pembroke Dock and includes many names and faces. These include Cynthia, Ken’s wife, who has also been a club member for many years.

Printed by Monddi of Pembroke Dock, Ken’s book is priced a £10. It is available from the author on 01646 672501 or by e-mailing [email protected] and from the Bowling Club at the Memorial Park.
