A Pembroke Dock man who verbally abused railway staff after refusing to stop smoking on a train was fined in court this week after pleading guilty to behaving in a drunk and disorderly manner
Thirty-three-year-old Bryan Cunningham of Meyrick Street appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates on Tuesday, to admit the charge.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that the incident occurred on August 1, when the defendant started shouted abuse at railway staff when asked to stop smoking on a train.
The train proceeded to Lamphey railway station where it was held until police officers arrived.
Mr. Cunningham then verbally abused one of the officers and was subsequently arrested.
The defendant who was not represented in court, said he did not remember smoking on the train but accepted the prosecutor’s facts.
During the hearing it was heard that Mr. Cunningham had previous convictions, with the last one coming in 2016.
During sentencing, the chairman of the bench said: “The level of fine you are getting is because of the level of disruption that was caused.
“You were a disturbance to yourself and others around you.”
Mr. Cunningham was fined £80 for the offence, and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs, along with a £32 victim surcharge.
