A Pembroke woman is set to appear at Swansea Crown Court next month to face charges of benefit fraud.
Fifty-one-year-old Carol Coote, of Ramsden Court, Monkton, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to four charges of failing to notify authorities of a change in her circumstances that would affect her entitlement to benefits, namely that she was maintaining a common household with her partner.
The charges relate to benefits claimed for - income support, council tax, employment and support allowance, and housing benefit.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that the claims were made over periods between January, 2008 and February, 2016.
“Ms Coote failed to declare a change in her circumstances, namely that she was living as an unmarried couple, and her partner was in work. The total overpayment comes to £68,307.67. Our guidelines would recommend that this is a case for the crown court,” she explained.
Magistrates transferred the case to Swansea Crown Court, with Ms Coote set to appear for a hearing on October 24.
