A bike register event has been deemed a ‘success’ by Dyfed-Powys Police.
The event held at Tenby Police Station last week allowed people to register their bikes should they get stolen or lost.
As PCSO Adam Thomas, explained: “The purpose of the event is to mark as many bikes in Dyfed-Powys Police catchment area, with bike thefts being high on the agenda.
“It’s more to do with returning their bikes to their rightful owner.”
Indeed, with crime going up and police budgets being cut, more ways are needed to help deal with thefts.
With the Ironman event being held in Tenby on Sunday, people took the opportunity to have their bikes placed with a special sticker which the police would be able to scan should it be discovered after getting stolen or going missing.
PCSO Adam Thomas, said: “We’ve had great success, it’s more word of mouth, we’ve advertised it in different newspapers and on twitter and we’ve also been leaflet dropping throughout the area in shops and streets.
“It’s a free scheme; the value of it, it’s something like £7.50 per bike.”
