Huge congratulations go to Whitland RFC Ladies squad on winning the Welsh Plate final on Sunday at Maesteg RFC, defeating Croesyceiliog by 15 points to 12.

And what a nail-biter of a final it proved to be, the match going into extra-time, before the delighted Whitland side snatched a dramatic victory with a last-second try.

At full-time, the teams were locked together at five points each, with Whitland's try having been scored by flanker Angharad Williams.

And so it was into extra-time, with Croesyceiliog initially taking a seven-point lead with a converted try.

Back came Whitland, with replacement centre Karen Mayze scoring an unconverted try to cut the deficit to two points at 12 points to 10.

With the seconds ticking by and the referee calling last play, Whitland threw everything they had left in the tank and with the ball reaching young winger Hannah Richards, it was time for her to weave her magic and she went over in the corner to break the hearts of the Croesyceiliog Ladies and send Whitland's into orbit.

Well down ladies, you did yourselves and Whitland RFC proud.
