Bridgend
Athletic 35 pts. Whitland 7
Whitland lost their rearranged Swalec League Division One West game at Bridgend Athletic by 35 points to seven with a poor performance which lacked penetration.
Neverthless, Gareth Lloyd and Marc Jones were the game's two outstanding forwards and captain and scrum-half Andrew Jenkins was always to the fore.
In the first half, the Athletic scored two unconverted tries, one by fullback Jonny Phillips after 10 minutes and the other by winger James Olds after 35 minutes, with outside-half Steve Lewis also adding a penalty midway through.
Whitland's own number 10 Scott Newton failed with two penalty attempts, the second unluckily hitting the crossbar, so the Borderers went in at half-time 13-0 down.
Whitland second row Aidan Laxton got yellow carded within two minutes of the restart and Steve Lewis kicked the resultant penalty.
After 19 minutes, fullback Jonny Phillips got his second try for the home side, which again went unconverted.
Whitland did score a try some two minutes later when outside-half Scott Newton side-stepped through and also added the conversion, but Bridgend hit back straightaway when Steve Lewis was put away and scored their bonus point try and added the two points to take the lead up to 28 points to seven.
Replacement winger Lyndsey Macalisland scored the home side's fifth and final try in the 31st minute, with Lewis adding the conversion to round off a good win for the home side and leave Whitland with a lot to ponder for their four remaining games.

Whitland 2nds 24 pts. Dunvant 2nds 11
Whitland beat Dunvant to complete a Carmarthen Tyre Services League double over the Swansea side, winning by 24 points to 11.
The first half was a close affair, with Whitland only leading by seven points to six at the break after flanker Mark Beasley scored a try and outside-half Jonathan Thomas converted, with number 10 Richard Lewis replying with two penalties for the visitors.
In the second half, Whitland scored three further tries to gain a bonus point. They came from winger Mitchell Rees, fullback Shane Morgan and number 10 Jonathan Thomas, who also converted one of them.
Dunvant's only points of the half came from a Lewis try.
GRIFFITHS CUP DEFEAT
Whitland lost their second game in the Griffiths Under 18s Cup to Aberystwyth by 30 points to 14.
They scored a try in each half, one by David Dunfee and the other by Dan Lewis, with Will Carrol converting both.
