A local girls football club has been given a cash boost following a £100 donation from Valero Pembroke Refinery. St Florence Girls AFC was set up to encourage more girls in the local area to take up the sport, and is open to girls between seven and 16 years of age.
Club sponsorship co-ordinator, Emma Dewhurst, said, “We are delighted with this continued support received from Valero. The club is playing a very important role for St. Florence and the surrounding community by keeping are young players active and healthy and developing their skills as part of a team. This donation from the refinery will be a massive help towards supporting our running costs.”
Refinery public affairs manager Stephen Thornton, said: “Valero is very pleased to support many sports clubs and organisations across our communities, but St. Florence Girls AFC is the first club specifically for girls that we have been approached by requesting help. We are delighted to be able to support the club and these young players and wish them every success for the future.”
