Louise Hurlow struck gold last weekend at the British Masters Olympic Weightlifting Championship.
With an excellent performance achieving a competition PB of 51 kilos snatch and a 68 kilos clean and jerk, she managed five out of six successful lifts, with a competition best total of 119 kilograms.
Following the medal ceremony, Louise gave her thoughts about her win.
“I went in with two goals; one - to hit more than the qualifying standard and two - to control my nerves. Anything else was a bonus,” she said.
“Not only did I achieve my goals, I also hit PBs (personal bests) and became British champion in my category. I’m so chuffed and it’s still a bit surreal.”
Louise gave thanks to her coach Jason Ronowitz, Dom Edwards for his never-ending support, mum and dad Julie and Martin Hurlow for coming up to watch her and to everyone who took the time to send messages of support.
Everyone at Project Fitness Tenby Weightlifting Club has said that they are extremely proud of her hard work and dedication.
