Saturday’s race saw eight boats on the water, with a four ospreys competing. The wind was force 3/2 and shifty, with warm sunny spells. The first race was a good size triangle course with light winds, Ted and lucas in best chance made a good start to the race but so did peter in the scorpion. All boats made it quickly up to the windward mark and hoisted kites, but by the time the last boat had rounded the gybe mark the wind had all but died. Only Ted in best chance finished the lap, before drifting back past the leeward mark. Racing was abandoned and the sailors headed back to the clubhouse for refreshments.
Tuesday night was sunny and warm, but with no wind. Racing was abandoned before anyone had rigged there boats, once again the sailors headed to the clubhouse for refreshments.
Sailing continues tomorrow (Saturday), 5 pm, and Tuesday, 7 pm, where we are hoping for the much more wind.
Junior sailing
Thirty youngsters in 20 dinghies enjoyed another great evening of sailing followed up with barbecue afterwards. A few of the adult come and triers also came along and were taken out by club sailors in osprey dinghies. Many thanks to all the helpers
Cruiser racing
During this week’s race, there was confusion over the position of the first mark which resulted in some boats taking the wrong course. After a discussion in the bar afterwards, final result stand as 1. Aries, 2. Chiron and 3. Heather. With redress points awards to Apatshe and Slipstream.
