After some discussion Saturday morning about the wind, a number of sailors headed down to Tenby for the cup race. There were six dinghies on the water for the three races, all of which were won by Peter in his Scorpion, followed by Dan in his RS400 in the first two races and Mike in his Osprey in the third.

Conditions were warm and light with a calm sea state; this made for interesting racing, with opportunities for all sailors to get there best results.

Juniors

Finally, last Wednesday provided suitable conditions for junior sailing to take place. All the groups went on the water in a total of 15 dinghies. The racing group were in Teras and Toppers and enjoyed some close quarter manoeuvring. The beginners group is now full for the time being, with 11 registered, but more spaces may open up as the season progresses.

As usual, the post sailing BBQ was enjoyed by all.

Junior sailing continues next week, with a hope that the good weather continues.

There is a junior social evening planned for Friday, June 1. Further details to follow.

Also a massive congratulations to Ioan and Oscar Thompson who came fifth overall at the Eric Twiname Championship at Rutland Sailing Club last weekend.

Cruiser racing

The cruiser race planned for last Sunday morning was cancelled due to the sea fog covering Tenby most of the morning.

The next race for the Harry Billing Cup is tomorrow (Saturday), starting at 4 pm.

NB. No car parking Saturday due to the Carten marquee at the Harbour Bar. Opening times Friday 6 pm, Saturday 1 pm onwards, Tuesday 6 pm, Wednesday 5 pm.

COME AND TRY

Come and Try Sailing Day, May 20, 9.30 am. If you have never sailed before, or just not in a long time and would like to start sailing at TSC, then this is the day for you. We will have dinghies and cruiser for you to have a go in and see what it is all about.
