GOWER SPRINT TRIATHLON: Alan Richards took part in this half-a-mile swim in Port Eynon Bay (which was quite choppy!) followed by a 15 mile Cycle and 3 mile run in 1hr51mins.
WIGGLE WYE VALLEY WARRIOR SPORTIVE: Kathryn Bates took part in the stunning & challenging 66 mile route starting at the Chepstow Racecourse this ride bridges the gap between England and Wales and gives you the best views, climbs and cycling roads of the border towns and villages of both states.
You tackle the hills of the Wye Valley first of all. Following the River Wye all the way, darting left and right as do the roads enjoying the ride alongside the water. Once on the English part of the course, you enter the Forest of Dean then headed up through Ruspidge, Nailbridge and headed west once more.
COUNTY CYCLES MERLIN 104 MILE SPORTIVE: Gareth Rees, Paul Slack, Jamie Silvester, Ryan Semper, Aled Smith and Pat Currie took on this epic cycle in weather that was described by our President Gareth as Horrific!!
Starting at Cross Hands Business Park the route took in the spectacular and iconic Devils Staircase which is one of the toughest climbs in the UK.
On the Abergwesyn Rd rising to an elevation of 232 metres there is a set of hairpin bends at 25 per cent gradient – lung busting and not for the feint hearted! You also ride along the Usk Reservoir on the northern edge of The Brecon Beacons National Park.
Tuesday, August 21 - Route 15: (Sageston and Templeton) Tenby, Heywood Lane, Serpentine Road, Narberth Road, Devonshire Drive, turn right at Heatherton, Sageston, right onto Old Redberth Road, over A477 to East Williamston, halfway along Temple Bar Road turn left onto Bush Lane. Over A477 heading towards Reynalton, turn right at Langdon Farm, then right at top of Reynaldton, right again to Templeton, rt at Boars Head then left into Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty, Pentlepoir, Tenby. ( 25 miles). Sweepers - Andy Adamson and Mat Greener.
Thursday, August 23 - Route 1: (Pembroke loop) Lydstep, Hodgeston, Lamphey, Lower Lamphey Road, Pembroke Castle, Upper Lamphey Road, Lamphey, Hodgeston, Jameston, Lydstep, Tenby ( 21.5 miles). Sweepers - Nicola and Carlton Coates.
We have three groups - with a sweeper led social group with the intent that no-one gets left behind and all get a ride to suit their abilities.
Helmets to be worn on all club rides and front and rear lights now nights drawing in. All rides leave Tenby Leisure centre car park at 6 pm.
