Well done Aces on another great weekend.
Challenge Paguera-Mallorca: John Parker 7hrs 6mins. This is a half Ironman distance race, with the 1.2 mile swim off the beautiful Tora Beach; the 56 mile cycle is a two-lap technical and demanding course taking you up into the foothills of the Serra de la Tramuntana Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and along the coastline. The four-lap 13.2 mile run is along the Maritime boardwalk and boulevard of Peguera’s beaches. Ann, John’s wife, took part in the ladies’ opening 5km run, coming 24th out of 250 runners.
Birmingham International Great Run Marathon: Mandy Draper in 14hrs 1min. The start was in the Alexander Stadium, home of British athletics, passing iconic city landmarks like Edgbaston cricket gound and the Cadbury’s factory in Bourneville. The finish was in Jenners Road at the Millennium Point. Great to see Mandy continuing her quest to run 100 marathons a year after her accident.
Royal Welsh 10km Run: Held at the National Botanical Gardens, Carmarthenshire - Ceris Hewlings 55.56, Donna James 1hr.23, Gracie Davies 1hr 18, Andy Adamson 52.56 and Wayne ‘Diggy’ Duigan 1hr 18. This was a hilly and challenging course through the lush countryside. Also a 2.5km race was held and the Aces had Mum Jude Duigan running with her two young sons Ethan and Logan - great pic of the boys proudly showing off their medals.
Colby Parkrun: This is a free weekly 5km event for runners of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9 am in Colby Woodland Garden (National Trust), near Amroth. It is not a race against other runners, but a 5k timed run and it can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that’s for fun or as part of a training plan. It offers an opportunity for all the local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy this beautiful park and get physically active into the bargain. They want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability - this event is truly open to all - just register before your first ever parkrun.
Last Saturday, a few members took part and Emma Jane Richards ran with her children, with Deri running in 24 mins 15, aged eight years, Ieuan 29 mins, six years, Megan 28 mins, 12 years, Iestyn and Madoc in 40 mins - a great event for all the family!
We also congratulate members Paul Slack and Rickki Morgan on passing their British Triathlon Level 1 Coaching Course.
