Not much on the agenda this week, so a chance to hand over to the kids and their efforts, with six junior members taking part in the Colby Parkrun. Also some of the Aces decided to head off to Majorca to get in some warm weather training.
Colby
Parkrun
Colby Parkrun was the setting for some excellent performances last weeked, with Steph Waring’s kids Eddie and Teaghan doing very well. Eddie cruised the 2km and Teaghan had a massive PB of 28.11 for her 5km.
And then with Tracy Thomas and Dave Poole’s kids doing very well also, Dave’s son Ethan had first boy in year 6 cat. And then Tracey’s boys, Owen and Lloyd, also did very well, with Owen the second 16-year-old. Lloyd, running with Jade Gooding, also did very well, with Jade getting first female 16-year-old.
Legro’s
Training Camp
A large number of the Aces descended onto the island of Majorca for the Legro’s training camp last week, with Dave and Tori Randall, Paul Luger, Cath Graham, Adam Brown, Pat Currie, Tom Smith and Steve Amos all heading over to have some find weather cycle training; also to be able to sit around having a relaxing drink in nice weather in the evenings. Certainly something to think on for next year with a club trip.
Llanelli Marathon and Half Marathon
Last weekend also saw the Great Welsh Marathon being held up in Llanelli, which is held on a beautiful, flat, super fast and traffic-free course, taking in some stunning areas of the south Llanelli coastline.
It is a wonderful figure of eight style course that helps towards an exceptional experience for the runner and their supporters. Very few races have a course like this which helps the runner feel a greater sense of being part of something very special.
Additionally, the support of the runners is very important and this is perfect for the participant’s loved ones... who will be able to watch them pass by and cheer them on over a number of opportunities from the same vantage point!
Taking part we had Mandy Draper competing in the full marathon, in a time of 3:49:57, and Andrea Craig taking part in the half marathon, in a time of 2:13:36.
