Last Sunday saw the arrival of the W&G Softball Festival in Cresselly as the cricket club played host to ladies and one young man from around the county. Six teams entered the competition, which is a cricket based game played with a ‘soft’ ball on a smaller sized pitch. Many of the players were holding a cricket bat for the first time, but showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship while thoroughly enjoying the experience.
The winners of the Plate final were Flossy’s Barmy Army (Cresselly), with Hook Ladies defeating Haverfordwest Ladies RFC in the Main final to take home the silverware for 2017.
The competition was immaculately organised by Megan Arthur and a number of the Cresselly CC men were recruited for umpiring duties and, of course, the all-important barbeque. It was a day of great fun and sport and everyone went home looking forward to a repeat next year.
