Brother and sister racing duo Sam and Daisy Coleman of Saundersfoot, enjoyed a winnng result in the inaugural Scottish Grand Prix of the sea over the weekend.
A crowd estimated to be in excess of 20,000 lined the Greenock Esplanade on the opening day of the P1 Superstock powerboat racing event, which was bathed in glorious sunshine, to match a glorious victory for the Coleman Racing partnership, much to the delight of their sponsors Pertemps.
“Going into the event we were a little unsure how we would fare, knowing we could hold our own in the rough as we proved in Scarborough; with the sheltered race site we knew the conditions would be flat calm at this event,” explained Daisy.
In the first race the duo were able to battle their way to third place, before going on to win races two and three.
“Moving onto the Sunday we knew the pressure would be on to maintain our lead,” continued Daisy.
“The weather turned on the Sunday with very poor visibility and it was questionable whether we were going to be able to race at all due to safety reasons, but the weather cleared and we ran one race which we won!”
The pair admitted they were “over the moon” to get on the top step of the podium and now lead the Championship by 21 points going into Gosport for the next event on July 9 and 10.
