The see-sawing weather pattern of recent weeks was repeated again on Sunday when following the previous Sunday’s light winds and sunshine, yet another wet and windy day caused race officer Mick to cancel proceedings for the day, which only saw surfers and body-boarders braving the elements.
Thanks to Nina for stepping in to do the report last week while we were away at Tenby taking part in the RS200 Nationals. Luckily the weather was much more pleasant, although we could have done with a bit more luck in the actual sailing, but it was an enjoyable week in a high quality sailing fleet and many thanks to all at Tenby Sailing Club for putting on such an excellent event.
This weekend, Simon is away at Abersoch taking part in the Contender Nationals and so far he has been performing well. Hopefully we will be able to update you on his progress next week, but we all wish him good luck.
There is no club sailing this weekend due to the Saundersfoot Triathlon, in which we understand quite a few members are taking part, and then there is the annul Ironman on the Sunday, so good luck to all of those taking part.
The following weekend we have our annual Bart’s Bash event on Sunday, September 17, which is usually a good day, so please come and join us. Club boats are going fast, so if you haven’t reserved yours yet, don’t leave it too late.
The final race of our main club season will take place on September 24 at 9.30 am, drawing the main season to a close after what has been a very successful and well attended club season before the Frostbite series gets underway. Immediately after the conclusion of this race, we are planning to hold an informal meeting in the clubhouse to discuss the season to date and also to consider any possible changes to the programme for the 2018 season.
We would like more of the dinghy sailors to take a more active role in the running of the sailing programme and there are a variety of tasks and roles that we are looking for you to take on to ensure that the club sailing continues to be successful, so don’t be shy in coming forward!
We would also like to encourage more fun sailing events and social events, in addition to the tried and tested main sailing programme, and to try and continue the excellent integration of the newer sailors into the main club fleet, so if you have any views on this or any other matters relating to dinghy sailing, please let us know or ideally come along on the day. Teas and coffees will be available and there may even be biscuits as well!
