SAILING REPORT

Last Sunday was the continuation of the frostbite series, with one race being held on a lovely sunny morning with quite a fresh gusty wind attracting a turnout of nine hardy competitors under the watchful eyes of Paul and Julia in the box, with John, Nina and Tom on safety.

A course of Monkstone Amroth Harbour was set and the fleet set off on the stroke of 10 with a surprisingly leisurely start making for an excellent and colourful sight, but the wind soon filled in and the sailors sped towards Monkstone with the Contenders’ leading the way. There were a few thrills and spills on the way, but most it successfully round either three or four laps.

The final positions were pretty tight, but taking the win despite having some technical difficulties finishing was Aled in his Topper fresh from nationals squad training and having obviously picked up a few tips, it was obviously a good day for the youngsters with Ben finishing second and the eternally youthful Dave in his Solo coming third just ahead of the pair in the Contenders’.

Thanks to all those who took part and helped to run the race , another rescheduled race next week due to the US elections means we have one race next Sunday (November 13) at 1500 and then back to the programme with the final two frostbite races being scheduled for November 20 at 1000.

Good to see the clubhouse continuing to be used successfully by the rowers for all of their training sessions.

A reminder to members is that the annual AGM will be held at the clubhouse on November 19 at 1100. Further details to follow soon.
