Sunday race report
A blustery and grey early morning didn’t deter all of our hardy sailors with a fleet of 11 braving the elements. After some deliberation, a course of Amroth, Pendine, harbour was set by the eagle-eyed race team of Tom Owen and Alison Roberts and an adventurous start saw a few capsizes before the fleet all got away. There were several more capsizes on the first few legs before the fleet settled down, with Simon in his Contender and Ben in his Radial leading the way. The rest of the fleet was hotly-contested with the Tasar and RS200 having a ding-dong battle, while a varied fleet of Lasers were having their own private battle, while there were impressive outings for the new boys in the Toppers, Jamie and Sam, who did well in increasingly blustery conditions.
The winner overall and sailing superbly was Ben in the Laser Radial, just ahead of Simon in his Contender, with the RS200 of Paul and Julia just taking third place.
Thanks to all of those on duty in addition to the above, with John and Paul in one safety (apparently George and Ringo couldn’t make it) and Tina and Anita in the other keeping a close eye on us all.
Thanks also to all of those who have carried out repair works to the safety craft over the last week or so, in particular John, Rob and Terry. Hopefully, all will be completed as soon as possible to have all rescue boats back in service.
