A sunny and crisp Sunday morning saw a 16-strong squad of Seasiders travel to Neyland for their second game of the season.

With Tenby kicking off the match, Neyland quickly utilised their possession and after only a short passage of fast, accurate passing, crossed the try line for the opening points on the board.

Unfortunately, this dominance was pretty much the order of the first half, with Tenby trying everything to absorb the continual pressure Neyland put our defence.

Despite tackling well on occasions and working hard, too many errors by the visitors gave the home team plenty of opportunities to add to their score tally, with the first half ending 34-0.

The second half saw Tenby finally wake up a little and start to put together some lovely periods of passing and running, demonstrating that they can be a formidable opponent, but unfortunately they were unable to sustain these passing and running phases long enough and they were unable to convert their energies into points.

The only exception to this was when the Seasiders gained possession near their own try line and Eddie had a fantastic run to finally get some well deserved points on the board to show for the whole teams efforts. After a number of more tries by Neyland, the final score was 56-5.

Tenby squad: Eddie, Dan, Cody, Rhys E, Rhys S, Fin, Deri, Cemlyn, Ieuan, Paddy, Keaton, Zak, Tom W, Rhydian, George and Sam.

Under 10s

Tenby Swifts Under 10s welcomed Neyland to Tenby last weekend for the first home game of the season. The rain stopped and the sun came out for a glorious day of rugby.

Returning from injury, Evan Christen was the day’s captain.

Right from the whistle, Tenby dominated in defence, with Madoc and Iestyn leading the tackling. It wasn’t long before the Swifts started to turn the ball over with some strong rucking. Logan had another fantastic running game and caused trouble for Neyland’s defence.

With Tenby attacking the line at speed, it didn’t take long for them to get onto the scoresheet. Nothing can be taken away from Neyland, though, as they were just as strong in the rucks and tested Tenby’s defence throughout the match.

However, it was the Swifts defence that won the match, with the constant threat from Neyland’s attack being thwarted.

The final score went Tenby’s way 6-3.

Man-of-the-match went to Madoc Evans, who was solid in defence and ran the show in attack.

Tries: George Mc (2), Evan C (2), Logan H (1) and Madoc E (1).

Under 7s

Last Sunday saw Tenby Under 7s playing their first home fixture of the season against Neyland RFC.

Tenby were still excited from the previous week’s away win, showing themselves to be highly competitive against a very speedy Neyland team.

The good weather allowed the game to play at a fast pace, with both teams displaying excellent running rugby, good passing, tagging and the odd bit of side-stepping.

Unfortunately, Neyland came away the winners, scoring 14 tries to Tenby’s 10 in a very exciting match.

Team: Caitlyn Lewis, Ryan Gill, Ethan Brace, Bobby Field-Thomas, Jevan Guymer, Bobby Waters, Jude Christen, Rupert James, Dylan Drewett, Craig Roberts, Leo Werner, Rhys Broadhurst, Bradley Rossiter, Cody James, Charlie Allen.

Tries - Jude, Cody, Leo (2), Bobby FT (3), Ethan (3).

Under 9s

Tenby Swifts Under 9s played their first home game of the season on Sunday welcoming Neyland to the Clickets.

Neyland are always a very good team and Tenby knew they had their work cut out to get a win, and really did try their best but the vistors walked away with the 8-2 win.

Try scorers for Tenby were Aidan and Ollie.

Tenby squad: Iori, Aidan, Jake, Charlie, Jack, Ollie, Evan, Raph, Cian, Oscar, Calum, Sonny and Dylan.

Under 11s

Last Sunday saw Tenby Under 11s play their first home game of the season against a strong Neyland team.

Both teams from the first whistle looked set to run the ball and both had good periods of possession during the opening five minutes of the game but it was to be the Seasiders who after a lovely phase of passing along the backs and great support saw Connor score in the corner.

With strong winds the conversion was missed and the score stood at 5-0 to Tenby.

Neyland applied the pressure at the lineout and regained possession to crash over the try line, and with the try converted, the score was now 5-7 in their favour.

The Seasiders were attempting to move the ball and create some gaps in the Neyland defence and this was rewarded when a strong run by Alfie set the platform for the backs to run and Connor to eventually find the gap and score his second.

A lapse in concentration didn’t see the Seasiders hold the lead for long and a breakaway for Neyland saw their winger run the length of the field to score.

Big tackles were coming thick and fast in an attempt to thwart the attacking play but when another opportunity was presented to Connor his speed was untouchable and he raced over for his third and to give his side a 19-14 lead.

Once again Neyland were quick to reply and came back firing and equalled the try count. With minutes remaining in the first half another opportunity seized by Connor saw him dance through the defence to score again but Neyland were to have the last word with their forth try of the game just as the half time whistle blew to give them a 26-28 lead.

Unfortunately the second half did’nt to go to plan for the seasiders and the Neyland side moved up a gear.

Tenby tried their best to soak up the continued attacks with both the forwards and backs laying their bodies on the line but five unanswered tries for Neyland saw the game disappear out of sight.

Tenby’s fighting spirit hadn’t been squashed completely though and they showed great strength of character to put together some strong phases which eventually saw Alfie show great determination to crash over the line.

Neyland once again showed what a strong team they are finishing the game with a further two tries giving them a 33-75 victory.
