On Sunday, the Under 8s (seen right) travelled to Haverfordwest for a tournament. They won four out of seven games. They all played exceptionally well. A special mention to Jack on his first game and a big thank you to Ollie Toy for stepping in in the last minute. Sunday’s team: Aidan, Sonny, Iori, Ollie P, Calum, Jack and Ollie T. Well done all. Under 10s

Last Sunday, Tenby Under 10s (seen right) travelled to Pembroke Dock to take part in a rugby festival. In a morning which would see the Seasiders take on five other teams, players and coaches were looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Tenby’s first game was against Llangwm. The Seasiders came out strong and were impressive in the breakdown, retaining the ball well and setting up a good platform for backs to move the ball. This resulted in the Seasiders coming away with a 20-0 win, with tries scored by Lewis (2), Conner and Carter.

Tenby’s second game was against Narberth. From the first whistle, Narberth proved strong opposition. Both teams fought hard for the ball and some strong tackles were needed. This resulted in a draw of 5-5, with Carter scoring Tenby’s try.

The third game of the day was to be played against Neyland. Tenby fought hard and managed to cross the line for a well-worked try by Owen, but a few decisions going Neyland’s way allowed them to build momentum against the Seasiders and saw them cross the line twice. Final score was 10-5 to Neyland.

A team talk before game number four saw the players refocus after the loss and head on to the pitch with determination to produce a winning score. Facing Fishguard, Tenby pulled together as a team. They knew their roles and worked them well. The forwards worked hard in presenting the ball and this allowed the backs to enjoy running the ball. Tenby looked good moving forward and some quick hands produced gaps in the Fishguard defence and Tenby got back to winning ways, running in four tries to Fishguard’s one. Final score was 20-5 to the Seasiders. Tries were scored by Conner (3) and Carter.

Tenby were to finish their morning of rugby with a big game against Crymych. Tenby fought hard in this game. Some game changing tackles stopped Crymych in their tracks. Determination on the floor saw Tenby turn over possession on a few occasions and this saw them coming away with a fantastic final win of the day. Final score 10-5 to Tenby, with both of the Seasiders tries being scored by Carter.

Tenby showed good progression in their rugby and players, coaches and supporters are looking forward to the season ahead.

Under 12s

Last weekend saw Tenby Swifts Under 12s (pictured at the bopttom of the page) travel to Pembroke to take part in a Pembrokeshire seven-a-side festival of rugby. With a full squad of players, the boys travelled in a buoyant mood following a successful start to the season.

Drawn in a strong group, their policy was to rotate the players to give all the boys plenty of game time throughout the day.

First up was Haverfordwest and some excellent skills were shown by the young Seasiders coming out on top by six tries to two.

Narberth were next up and some superb handling and strong defence saw the boys score 11 tries without reply.

The third game of the day saw them face Pembroke Dock Quins, who always prove a tough team to play. An end to end game saw the Tenby boys eventually come out on top by four tries to two.

The tournament’s fourth game was against the home side, Pembroke, and the Seasiders showed top form, scoring some fine team tries, running out winners by seven to three.

The final game of the day was against Whitland, who got off to a quick start by scoring two early tries. But these Tenby boys showed great composure to get back on level terms at four tries all going into the final few minutes. A turnover gained by the forwards deep in their own half saw Tenby break and fine handling saw a sweeping move result in a try in the corner.

The referee blew the final whistle to give the Seasiders a fifth win of the day by five tries to four.

An enjoyable and well run festival on a sunny autumn day proved successful for the Tenby team, with all 18 players contributing to the five wins from five on the day. Special mention to four boys making their debuts for Tenby Swifts, Harri, Archie, Tristan and Max H, the first three all scoring tries during the day.
