All Blacks legend Sean Fitzpatrick stopped by at local rugby clubs this week as part of the ‘Tour De Scarlets’ fundraising challenge.

Led by the Scarlets Community Foundation, the fundraising journey to help grassroots clubs return to rugby kicked-off as the cycling tour on its first day took in stops at St Clears, Laugharne, Whitland, Narberth, Tenby, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock as part of the journey to reach 53 rugby clubs in the region, after setting off from Parc y Scarlets.

The team will be cycling a gruelling 350 miles across the taking in all clubs across three counties from Aberystwyth to St Davids to Yr Hendy.

Members of the Scarlets team were joined by former New Zealand captain Sean, as he posed for pictures with some of Tenby’s budding young sporting stars of the future at the Heywood Lane ground on Monday evening.

Community Foundation officer Rhodri Jones said: “We hope to raise much-needed funds to invest back into our community clubs and female rugby hubs with their return to play and getting ready for the new season.

“The funds will also support the continued work of the Foundation following on from our care pack campaign during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
