Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure) played host to the Balfour Club from Haverfordwest on Monday evening and were 4-1 losers.

The first frame saw captain Glyn Davies play Terry McBride. Glyn was in superb form as he potted well throughout, including a fine 22 break. His safety was also excellent as he went to win on the pink against a player he had never previously beaten in 12 years.

The second frame saw Dave Wooles play Alan Griffiths. Dave started well and played well throughout, but his opponent had the better of the latter part of the frame, which culminated in a brilliant 40 break clearance.

The third frame saw Martin Durham play Simon Pearce. Martin started well, but Simon is an excellent player and showed his class with some good shots. Martin hung on, but was eventually beaten on the pink.

The fourth frame saw Darren Morgan play Ray Moare. Darren started well, but got bogged down mid-frame. As the frame got to the colours, Darren was 28 points behind and needing snookers, which he didn’t get.

The final frame saw Steve Barlow play Anthony Griffiths. Steve started slowly, but then got into his stride, and by mid-frame was 15 points up. This was a close affair, with both players potting well. However, it was the Balfour man who prevailed on the pink to win.

Saundersfoot snooker team would like to thank the Observer for their continued coverage and every reader who has taken an interest, while special thanks go to Eric and Lesley for their continued generous sponsorship - see you all next season (October).
