As the season begins to wind down, this is the time when charities dominate a number of weekly events.

At the beginning of September, any Stableford round played could be included in the Lifeboat Charity Appeal, culminating in the Thursday competition.

This was won by Sue Griffiths with 38 points, from Pam Cole on 37, whose last nine was better than Sue Waring’s.

The September GUW Medal on Sunday was won by Trevayne Keohane on nett 72 from Heather Morgan on 77. The Thursday Medal was won by Bethan Morris with nett 73 from Pat Fox on nett 78. The nine-hole Stableford was won by Ann Marsden from Mary Rowell.

The Autumn Cup was played on September 22 and Pat Fox played steadily to win with 37 points from Pam Cole on 35.

The final competition for September was the Annual Pink Day when Breast Cancer Research is the object. The Jubilee Threes competition was won by Heather Morgan, Vicky Burks and Denise Edwards with 78 points from Carol Beecher, Irene Gilman and Penny Cope on 71.

The final total raised from the competition and donations for this most important charity was £125.
