Novice Bowlers Take to The Green
On a glorious Bank Holiday Monday, a successful member and novice competition was held at Whitland Bowling Club.
Members partnered by novice bowlers played a round robin two-wood competition.
Early rounds and quarter-finals were composed of five ends, with the semi-finals and final being of seven and nine ends, respectively.
Following keen competition and some very good quality bowling, the finalists were Hannah Hunt (member) and novice partner Chris Hunt against David Thomas (member) and novice partner Eifiona Griffiths.
Remarkably, David and Eifiona reached the final having won all of their games and they did not disappoint at the last hurdle, but continued their fine form to deservedly win the 2016 member and novice competition.
The finalists were presented with prizes, including trophies to Chris and Eifiona. The latter, being the winning novice, was also awarded with free membership for the 2017 season.
Presentations were made by tournament organiser and club chairman, Stephen Reese.
The green bowled superbly and a big thank you is expressed to Stephen Reese, ably assisted by his son Ashley, for all the hard work that they have done in looking after the green all season.
