Tenby Arches
Ladies v Saundersfoot
Last Monday, Tenby Arches Ladies travelled to Saundersfoot to resume the game started on July 20, but which was curtailed because of heavy rain. The weather was much better, dry and warm, so the bowling conditions were good.
The game recommenced after three ends, when the score was 2-1 to Tenby on rink three. Saundersfoot then got off to a good start, scoring three on the fourth end.
The Tenby team of Liz, Meryl, Jan and Gerry slipped behind and the score was 9-4 to Saundersfoot after 10 ends. Tenby pulled back to be 12-9 down after 16 ends, but disastrously dropped a seven on the 17th end. It was too late to recover and the game ended 22-9 to Saundersfoot.
Over on rink four, the score was again 2-1 to Tenby when the game recommenced, and the team of Margaret, Katie, Carol and Jo took a few ends to warm up.
They then got into their stride and the game was very close throughout. It was seven-all at the 11th end and 11-all at the 16th, finally ending in a respectable draw of 12 each, so just one point to Tenby.
Tenby Arches
Ladies v Pembroke Dock Park
On Wednesday, Tenby Arches Ladies returned to Pembroke Dock to play their away game, on a pleasant, dry afternoon.
On rink five, the game was quite even at first, with Liz, Meryl, Jan and Gerry keeping within sight of the Pembroke Dock Park ladies and being just two behind after eight ends.
Pembroke Dock Park then drew ahead, scoring nine shots over the next four ends. Tenby then scored a four on the 13th end, but Pembroke Dock Park persevered and the final score was 25-15 to the home four.
On rink six, Tenby had only three players, Katie, Jo and Carol. Pembroke Dock Park took the early lead and were 11-4 ahead after the 11th end. Tenby then won the next six ends, including a five on the 14th, where they took the lead for the first time. They managed to stay ahead and the final score was Pembroke Dock Park 15, Tenby 22, which after the deduction for having only three players gave Tenby a narrow win of 16.5 to 15.
Tenby Arches Ladies are sponsored by the Tenby House Hotel.
