Saundersfoot Bowling Club is pleased to announce that they have received continued sponsorship from the exclusive Park and Leisure Homes facility The Heritage Park, which is situated in Pleasant Valley Stepaside.

As well as their partnership with the club which recently realised a £1,000 donation to Cancer Research, the sum of £500 has been received towards the Saundersfoot Open Week event in July which features singles and pairs competitions which are open to males and females.

Their support is greatly welcomed by the members and was announced by the Park general manager Sue Gallienne at the recent charity presentation event.

Sue is pictured with club president Ann Lewis, club chairman Billy Glynn and the recipients of the charity cheques, Sheila Ralph, of Breast Cancer Care Wales, and George Cavell and Gladys Cleevely, of the Saundersfoot branch of Cancer Research UK.

FIXTURES

Club matches will start to come with great regularity with the outdoor season now underway and today (Friday) the St. Issell’s ladies team host Pembroke Dock Park, at 2 pm, in their first league match of the season and then travel to Whitland tomorrow for what should be a close encounter with last season’s champions.

The gentlemen of the club have two friendlies this weekend, also playing Whitland away tomorrow and at home to Kidwelly on Sunday.

On Thursday, the Saundersfoot ladies kick-off their campaign with a home match against Pembroke Dock at 6 pm.

The local ‘El Classico’ between the Saundersfoot and Tenby men then follows on Saturday, April 29, with the villagers having home advantage.

Club captains this year are Berwyn Dennis, Richard Whittaker and Peter Guyett for the men’s First Division, Second Division and Meyrick Owen teams, and Gemma Amos and Sue Roden for the Saundersfoot and St. Issell’s ladies squads.

Overall club captains are Graham Hughes and Sue Roden and all are wished a happy and successful season.

TOURNAMENTS

Entry sheets for this year’s club tournaments can be found in the club as can the information regarding the Open Week competition which will be held, as usual, the last week of July.
