The Kik-Plastic tour will be arriving in Tenby next week, led by world record ocean rower Kiko Matthews.
Departing from London earlier this month, the tour will see Kiko cycle 7200km of the Great British coastline, participating in over 70 beach cleans along the way.
Each day, Kiko will be joined by local cyclists ready to dust off their bikes and helmets and come out and cycle.
Working with existing beach clean organisers, such as the Marine Conservation Society, Keep Britain Tidy, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and British Kitesurfing Association, the tour aims to reach as many people as possible, and to expand the growing beach cleaner network around the UK, leaving a lasting legacy in local communities.
The tour will be coming to Tenby on the evening of Tuesday (May 28), meeting at the café on the North Walk at 6 pm, where there will also be a chance for locals to hop on a bike and join a leg of the cycle.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, Mayor, Clr. Tony Brown, a keen cyclist himself told his colleagues that he was hoping to get members of Tenby CC, the Aces and staff from the town’s Sainsbury’s store involved in the beach clean and ride, which is set to take place between 6 and 7 pm, stating that anyone was welcome to join in.
