Jayne Williams and Christine Evans of Cylch Meithrin Hywel Dda have been honoured by Mudiad Meithrin in its annual awards ceremony, which was held virtually on October 24, for both having completed 20 years service - a fantastic milestone!

Jayne and Christine have worked together for a number of years and during this time have developed a close working relationship.

Their efforts to sustain the Cylch services and provide pre-school children with high quality experiences and care through the medium of Welsh is something that is appreciated by parents in the community.

The Chair of the Cylch Meithrin Hywel Dda committee, Rhian Rodgers-Iraia, expressed gratitude on behalf of parents.

“Both Jayne and Christine are fantastic at what they do,” she said.

“The children thrive whilst in their care. The children look forward to going, they enjoy and have a great time during Cylch.

“The parents are made to feel relaxed knowing that their children will be safe, happy and well educated. Jayne is a fantastic Cylch leader and she’s shown this more so than ever in the last six months or so, going above and beyond for the children during lockdown.

“A big thank you to you both for all you do for the children and the Cylch.”

Jayne and Christine also run the Ti a Fi baby and toddler group, which is a great way for new parents to socialise and share experiences in an informal Welsh atmosphere.

Their diligence has not gone unrecognised and they have been recipients of several Mudiad Meithrin awards over the years.

This year Christine was announced as winner in the assistant category and the Cylch also were awarded first prize in the Ti a Fi category.

However, 2019 was their most successful year and as well as receiving awards in the Leader, Ti a Fi and Dewin a Doti categories, they were crowned overall winners in the Cylch Meithrin category, a real testament to their hard work.

Jill Lewis, Mudiad Support Officer for the region echoed the Chair’s sentiments, adding: “Jayne and Christine work as a duo, it’s impossible to think of one without the other – they’re like Ant and Dec, Ryan and Ronnie, or in the Mudiad Meithrin world, like Dewin and Doti – extremely supportive of one another and always ensuring that the put the needs of the children first.

“On a personal note, I would also like to thank them for their friendship and support over the years.”

County Councillor Sue Allen was also full of praise: “Delighted to hear about the honour and very well deserved for Dr Jayne Williams and Mrs Christine Evans.

“They have championed Cylch Meithrin in Hendygwyn ar Daf and encouraged parents to take an active part in fundraising and improving the facilities based alongside Parc Dr Owen. Many good wishes for the future. Diolch yn fawr i chi gyd.”

Now on to the next 20 years!
