Christmas is on the way and Tenby Library has a brand new post-box for Letters to Santa! They have blank letters ready to be written, or you can write on your own paper, Santa doesn’t mind. Last posting date is 6 pm on Tuesday, December 14 and Tenby Library expects delivery of the replies on Friday 17, so they will be ready for collection from then until they close for Christmas at 4 pm on Friday, December 24.

A few new books have arrived recently. New titles in fiction include: Over My Dead Body by Jeffrey Archer; Sharpes’ Assassin by Bernard Cornwell; A Change of Circumstances by Susan Hill; Silverview by John Le Carre; The Jealousy Man by Jo Nesbo; and A Christmas Legacy by Anne Perry. We also have Manifesto by Booker Prize winner Bernardine Evaristo (Girl, Woman, Other), and Did I Say That Out Loud? by broadcasters Fi Glover and Jane Garvey.

If you cannot find the book you want on the shelves, borrowers can currently reserve two books, for no charge; these could be books from other branches in Pembrokeshire, or books which are not in stock. The locations and availability of books can be checked on the online catalogue at https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/libraries-and-culture, or speak to a member of staff.

If you need food waste bags, Tenby Library can provide them, and they also have a small supply of grey food waste caddies, green food waste bins, red (plastic and cans) and blue (cardboard) recycling bags and the green glass recycling boxes. They no longer have orange bags for mixed recycling.

Printing and copying is available at Tenby Library for a small charge. Only three of the six public computers are available to maintain social distancing, so users are restricted to one hour per day; the computers are sanitised after every use. The photocopier is only for staff use but we can do straightforward copying for you. Payment can only be taken in cash.

The library still collects names and phone numbers for Track & Trace on entry; please note that face coverings are still required in the building unless the visitor has an exemption, and hand sanitiser is freely available at the Library entrance.

Tenby Library will be closed throughout the Christmas and New Year period from 4 pm on Christmas Eve and reopens at 10 am on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. The staff at Tenby Library wish all their borrowers and computer users a Merry Christmas and a joyous, peaceful and healthy New Year.
