Waste collections in Tenby on a Monday morning are now starting earlier after local councillors complained about the mess on the streets.
Tenby’s Deputy Mayor, Clr. Christine Brown recently stated that Pembrokeshire County Council’s ‘waste improvement manager’ Paul Watkins should come to the resort on a Monday morning between 7 and 10 am to conduct a walkabaout and see first hand the mess around parts of the town.
“It’s disgusting, and lots of it is down to trade waste,” she remarked. “Some are putting out rubbish on an afternoon before they’ve even done a night’s trade, and you are getting trade and domestic waste mixed together,” added Clr. Mrs. Brown..
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk Andrew Davies told members that he’d spoken to PCC’s Richard Brown Head of Environment and Civil Contingencies Richard Brown, and collections had now started earlier on a Monday to try and get any rubbish off the streets sooner.
He also said that Michael Harries from PCC’s Environmental Services was willing to come along to the town and have a look at the situation.
