Plans to mark VE 75th anniversary commemorations in Tenby are moving forward.
The town council recently suggested that the Royal British Legion were looking to hold a small gathering at the War Memorial at 3 pm on, Friday, May 8; whilst the organisers of the BSRA Welsh National Scooter Rally which has once again been arranged to take place in the seaside resort from May 8 to 10 have indicated to the town council indicated that they wish to embrace the occasion too, and commemorate it with a special tribute as part of a ride out over the weekend where they could carry poppies to represent each of the fallen from Tenby.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall said that the council were still looking for the people of Tenby to bring their memories of war to look to organising an event at a venue in the town where locals could gather to hear readings.
“Anyone with memories of the war that they’d like to share and commit to paper then please come forward to the town council offices. They don’t have to be long, they could just be a paragraph to share and included in a pamphlet that could be produced,” he said, asking for stories to be submitted by the end of the month.
