The following is a copy of a letter written to the traffic department at Pembrokeshire County Council:
Sir,
I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Ironman event in Tenby on Sunday.
Understandably, finding a parking place was difficult and I was about to park on a wide grass verge next to the Salterns car park (which was full), when my son noticed that all the seven or eight cars already parked there had parking tickets (apart from one large 4x4 in front of an advertising sign).
I was shocked and really saddened to see that on such a sporting day when so much effort had been made by so many people in a positive way for Tenby that such unecessary and quite honestly unsporting behaviour had taken place by our own council. It let the side down.
More appropriate action would be for that traffic officer to be directing people to the areas where they could park.
As a person proud of Pembrokeshire, I am sorry to those who received tickets for the impression that must have given.
Ginny Moore,
Ti Cara,
Cosheston.
